Week 2: Posing and Ball & Tail Animation

Posing knowledge:

  1. Line of action is important, it shows the person’s force and the body follows motion. In the picture, there are reverse C and forward C. Arcs with the spine are S and C curves.
  2. Counter pose: Opposites/ Spine (shoulders and pelvis) twist and tilt

Women’s left leg is forwards. The pelvis is twisted to match stride length. Opposite, the shoulder is forward. This is the same side as the leg gone back. We have a counterposed there in the two twists of the pelvis and the shoulders.

Balance and motion: Gravity makes motion fundamentally work.

3. Silhouette

4. Details: Hands, fingers and feet can tell the position and action the character experience.

4. Creating poses with character personality and emotions.

5. Staging and storytelling: Create poses that are communication and readable.

6. Common sense drawing or posing: keep your character alive and kicking. Don’t make it broken or injured.

2. A ballet girl

3. A dancing girl

4. An anxious man

5. A young lady in relaxing walk
