If I want to import a model already done into a new file and don’t want the model to change while the original file change. I can use Preserve references.
If Preserve References is enabled, References in the import file will be preserved. If this option is disabled, all References will be imported or exported to the file. That is, they will no longer be references, but objects in the scene will be disabled by default
